Biography

Thomas Still has a personal practice of Ashtanga Yoga since 2000. He studied with Lino Miele from 2001 to 2006 and started teaching Ashtanga Yoga in 2004 after teacher trainings with Nancy Gilgoff (the first Western woman to be blessed to teach by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois) and David Swenson (author of the classic "Ashtanga Yoga. The Practice Manual").

He has completed a number of teacher trainings with Manju Jois (the son of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois) and was the fourth person to receive Manju´s authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga (2009).  Thomas has assisted David Williams (the first Westerner to learn the entire Ashtanga Yoga system of asana and pranayama from Shri K. Pattabhi Jois in the 1970s) in workshops. His book " 1 Percent Theory: An Attempt to Reconstruct the Forgotten Lessons of Ashtanga Yoga as Taught by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and His Family" was called "the  best book about Ashtanga Yoga" by David Williams.

Thomas got interested in how to adjust yoga postures after receiving serious injuries from substandard teachers and meeting too many students with similar stories. He promotes a non-violent way of teaching Ashtanga Yoga and has, to the best of his knowledge, never injured a student. His website is www.ashtangamunich.com
